Laundry Lady has been nominated for the 2024 AusMumpreneur Awards, a national program recognising the best and brightest mums in business.
The Awards aim to support Australian mums, challenge stereotypes and raise awareness about the contributions women make to business.
Laundry Lady is a former multi-silver AusMumpreneur award winner in Service Business, Business Pivot, and Digital Innovation categories, and was finalist in the Women’s Champion Award.
Much more than ‘just a laundry service’, Laundry Lady empowers women (and men) to run profitable work-from-home businesses.
“We’re proud to say that 90% of our contractors are women,” CEO Susan Toft says.
“These are single mums wanting to earn a flexible income, carers of children with additional needs, part-time workers, students, and husband and wife teams.”
She says the values of Laundry Lady, which has been operating since 2012, align with the AusMumpreneur program.
“This nomination demonstrates our commitment to supporting entrepreneurial women and highlights the positive impact we’re making in the community.”
Laundry Lady has a team of more than 250 Laundry Ladies and Lads operating nationally. They work from their own homes, using their own equipment. Bookings and training is managed through a head office on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland).
“Our head office staff also work part-time, ensuring they can make school pickups on time and never miss another sports day,” Susan adds.
“Creating the time and flexibility opportunities in their lives is the reason why we are in business, and growing our business rapidly!”
Leader in tech & innovation
Laundry Lady is also leading the way in technology and innovation.
“We’ve always offered the convenience of online bookings but, in 2023, we rolled out a custom-built AI connection platform that manages every stage of your laundry service and supports our growing team of Laundry Ladies and Lads,” Susan says.
Laundry Lady’s technological innovations, combining the convenience of one-click booking with next-day laundry services, have been compared to rideshare and food delivery apps.
“This technology has enabled national scaling and exploration of international markets.”
