We’ve got some news we’re excited to share: The Laundry Lady has been named a finalist in Business Builders’ Between School Hours competition, a national search celebrating businesses built around family life.
Why this one means so much to us
Between School Hours is all about recognising the parents and carers who have built real businesses in the hours between the morning bell and afternoon pick-up. It’s a category that felt like it was made for us.
Our founder, Susan Toft, created The Laundry Lady because she needed more flexibility in her own life. Sports days, school drop-offs and pick-ups, wanting to actually be there for her sons, she built a business that could fit around family life, not the other way around. These days, Susan’s still doing that school run most days, but she’s built something with the flexibility she was chasing back then.
And that’s the flexibility we try to pass on to our Laundry Partners too. Most of the people running a Laundry Lady business are women, mums and dads, looking for a way to bring in extra income while still being there for their kids. Between school hours, around caring responsibilities, on their own terms.
What happens next
Finalists were announced on 2 July 2026, and public voting is now open. The winner will be decided by public vote and announced on 27 July 2026.
