We have some incredibly exciting news to share here at The Laundry Lady! Our dedication to providing mobile laundry services across Australia and now New Zealand have been recognised. We’ve been selected to join the prestigious Ignite+ Scale program, an initiative powered by Advance Queensland and Deloitte.
After an inspiring 3-day workshop with 29 of Queensland’s top scaleups, we’re proud to be part of this powerful growth journey designed to help innovative businesses like ours expand, evolve, and go global.
With expert coaching, strategy sessions, and tailored support ahead, we’re excited for what’s next, and grateful for the opportunity to keep growing our business and bringing flexible laundry solutions to even more people.
A new chapter for The Laundry Lady
This selection marks a significant milestone for our female-owned business. The Laundry Lady started with a simple mission: to save people time, one basket at a time. Founded by Susan Toft with the core values of creating time and flexibility for both our contractors and our customers, we’ve grown from a local initiative to a national service, and now an international one!
This journey, driven by a passion to help busy individuals and empower others to create their own flexible work-from-home businesses, makes our selection for the Ignite+ Scale program even more meaningful.
Our journey and successes
The Laundry Lady’s journey has been recently filled with exciting milestones. From our humble beginnings, we now boast a dedicated team of 300 contractors, known as Laundry Ladies and Lads, working remotely across Australia.
In September 2023, we proudly expanded into the New Zealand market, launching in Christchurch and Auckland, with more locations. Our Head Office, based on the Sunshine Coast (QLD), serves as the hub for contractor support, customer service, marketing, and accounts.
Our commitment to excellence has also been recognised through several accolades, such as Telstra Best of Business Awards, Shark Tank Australia, Women in Digital, AusMumpreneur, Sunshine Coast Business Awards, and more.
Empowering others through laundry
At its core, the Laundry Lady is about more than just clean clothes. We are passionate about empowering mums, dads, career-changers, and individuals seeking flexible work opportunities to launch their own successful businesses. Becoming a Laundry Lady or Lad offers a low-cost start-up opportunity with the backing of a recognised and growing brand. As the demand for our services continues to rise, we are actively recruiting and expanding our team nationwide.
Looking towards the future
Acting Deputy Director-General of Innovation Tony King highlighted the impressive nature of the participating businesses and the potential impact of the Ignite+ Scale program. He stated that the program “equips businesses with the strategies, guidance and resources needed to accelerate and maximise their scaleup journey.” We agree and are excited to see how this program will help the Laundry Lady reach new heights and further our mission.
Like Alistair Hart, founder of Mangoesmapping and fellow program participant, we believe that access to industry knowledge will be crucial in helping us expand both interstate and internationally. The opportunity to build a robust growth strategy and proactively plan for increased customer demand as we scale is incredibly valuable. Knowing how to effectively manage this growth will ensure the long-term sustainability of the Laundry Lady.
