Some nights make the years of work feel worth it. Founder and CEO Susan Toft took the stage as the winner of Women in International Business at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards. For a laundry service that started on the Gold Coast, it is a big moment, and the whole team shares it.
A big night for The Laundry Lady
The Women in International Business award recognises a woman who has built or led an international business, or who leads as a senior figure within one. Trade and Investment Queensland runs the Export Awards, which celebrate Queensland businesses that take their products and services overseas.
The Laundry Lady now operates in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The UK is next.
It didn’t happen overnight
The Laundry Lady is now Australia’s fastest-growing mobile laundry service, but it took years to get there. Susan and the team spent that time working hard, staying persistent and building the technology to get it right. The platform behind our bookings, pickups and deliveries did not appear overnight. The team tested it, fixed it and improved it, step by step.
That work now lets us run a wash, dry and fold service across several countries, while each customer still deals with a local person.
Flexible work for more than 600 Laundry Partners
Our Laundry Partners are the heart of the service. More than 600 of them now earn income on their own terms. They collect laundry, wash it, tumble dry it, fold it and deliver it back to customers in their own area.
Many Partners choose this work because it fits around family, study or other jobs. They decide how much they take on. That flexibility has been part of our model from the start, and it keeps growing.
Time back for customers
On the other side of the booking, our customers get hours of their week back. Instead of sorting, washing and folding, they book a pickup and carry on with their day. Families, busy professionals and local businesses all use the service.
