Laundry Lady named QLD finalist in Telstra’s Best of Business Awards; CEO vies for Founder of the Year in Women in Digital Awards

The accolades continue to roll in for Sunshine Coast-headquartered business The Laundry Lady, named a state finalist (QLD) in Telstra’s Best of Business Awards, in the Accelerating Women and Embracing Innovation categories.

From more than 22,000 nominations, this prestigious recognition celebrates businesses making a significant impact in women’s leadership and driving innovation.

The news comes as Laundry Lady’s Founder and CEO, Susan Toft, has been announced as a finalist in the Founder of the Year category for the Women in Digital National Awards, plus finalist in the 2024 Sunshine Coast Business Awards, Advanced Technology and Export categories.

“Being recognised in Telstra’s Best of Business Awards, Women in Digital, and Sunshine Coast Business Awards is an incredible milestone for us,” said Laundry Lady CEO Susan Toft.

“Our mission has always been to empower women through flexible work and embrace the power of technology to offer practical solutions. These nominations are a testament to the impact we’re making on both fronts.”

Bringing tech to a traditional household (and business) chore: how Laundry Lady is shaking up the market

From its Sunshine Coast base, Laundry Lady has grown into a national operation, offering its mobile laundry services across Australia and internationally in New Zealand.

With over 300 contractors, 90% of whom are women, the company provides flexible, home-based work, transforming laundry into a convenient, on-demand service for residential, commercial, NDIS, and aged care clients.

“We’re more than just a laundry service,” Susan added. “Our industry-first tech platform connects customers with Laundry Ladies and Lads in their local areas, providing consistent, high-quality service while supporting sustainable incomes for our contractors. These recent accolades inspire us to continue innovating and expanding.”

The Telstra Best of Business Awards celebrate exceptional small and medium-sized businesses making a positive impact in Australia. The Women in Digital Awards spotlight women excelling in digital and technology-driven fields, from entrepreneurship to tech innovation.

Laundry Lady has already proven itself a contender (and winner!) in the technology space, taking out the title of Best of the Best at the River Rival pitching event in Brisbane last month.

Competing in a highly anticipated event hosted by River City Labs, the State’s premier enabler for tech startups, Laundry Lady’s innovative approach to an everyday task secured it the top honour.

State winners of the Telstra Awards will be announced later this week, while the Women in Digital and Sunshine Coast Business Award winners will be revealed in October and November respectively.
