Local Laundry Rosebud VIC
Situated on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula and an easy day trip from the Melbourne CBD, Rosebud is home to many families, holiday-makers, and small to medium businesses.
We chat with your local Laundry Lady, Jenni, about what attracted her to the role, what she loves about this fishing community turned tourist hotspot, and the surprising trend in customers post-lockdown.
There’s no place like home
With international tourism among the first industries to feel the brunt of global lockdowns, Jenni – like many other Aussies – was faced with unemployment in the latter half of 2020.
The travel company she worked for as a bookkeeper was forced to close its doors, leaving her looking for flexible part-time opportunities.
“My husband and I moved to Rosebud to enjoy the coastal lifestyle, so I didn’t want to take on a job in Melbourne, especially with the four-hour daily (public transport) commute.”
Jenni needed something that ticked all the boxes: flexible, additional source of household income, allows time for family, and home-based.
Professional support, team culture
“I first saw the ad for Laundry Lady on Instagram,” Jenni explains. “I then went looking for it [via the links], and really liked the look of the website.”
Professional support “right from Day One” was yet another drawcard for Jenni.
She goes on to say that flexibility, being able to work from home, and the easy-to-use booking system were all “big pluses” for her, providing the confidence she needed to fill out the online application form.
Jenni now has the freedom to take on part-time bookkeeping work, share quality moments with the grandkids, and even contribute to her Super (or buy that new pair of shoes!).
Renovators rejoice: we’ve got your laundry & Airbnb needs covered
Another trip to Bunnings on the cards for the weekend? You’re not alone.
Home renovations have boomed in places like Melbourne and Sydney post-lockdown, with many residents spending their travel savings on fixing up the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry instead.
Jenni admits she’s seen a similar trend in Rosebud and the wider Mornington Peninsula community, adding that many vacation homes are becoming residences for those seeking a more permanent seachange.
“Lots of people are getting their laundry spaces renovated,” she says.
With no working washing machines or dryers, running water, or access to their usual amenities for days or weeks at a time, people are increasingly turning to quality mobile laundry services.
Laundry Lady offers door-to-door pickup & delivery of laundry, meaning renovators or those moving home won’t be left in the lurch!
From renovators, holiday homes, and busy families to beauty salons and NDIS participants, Laundry Lady fills a much-needed gap in demand, with an established customer-base and increasing clientele prospects for those coming on board.
“I would not hesitate to recommend others to become a Laundry Lady,” Jenni says.
“Do your own enquiries, and then take the plunge!”
