Award-winning mobile laundry service now in Toowoomba

Busy households and time-poor businesses across Toowoomba are now able to book their on-the-go wash and fold needs with The Laundry Lady.

Laundry Lady, which first launched on the Gold Coast in 2012, has experienced steady growth over the past six months, employing even more contractors across Queensland, plus in Victoria and New South Wales.

CEO Susan Toft says the uptick in demand from families, working couples, property managers, and small businesses like hair and beauty salons has been a key driver of growth.

“Our customers enjoy the convenience of having their washing taken care of – whether it’s families or commercial clients – and take advantage of pre-booking regular services,” she says.

With domestic travel back on the agenda for Aussies, Airbnb, bed and breakfast, and property managers in Toowoomba are invited to save time and book their next laundry service with Laundry Lady. It’s also the perfect solution for holidaymakers at hotels or caravan parks.

“It really takes the hassle out of a normally time-consuming chore,” Susan says.

“Those in the tourism and hospitality sector can get back to business and day-to-day operations, while Laundry Lady takes care of the linen, towels and uniforms,” she says.

Laundry Lady services (wash, dry, fold and iron) are also ideal for those who may be renovating, attending the University of Southern Queensland, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants, or local cafe or gym owners.

The award-winning business uses an innovative, independent contractor model, which has seen it shine in programs like the AusMumpreneur Awards – taking home silver for Digital Innovation in 2020.

Ready to book?

Customers in Toowoomba can book online, have their clothes, linen, towels and other fabrics picked up from their door and returned freshly laundered the very next day.

For mobile laundry service Darling Downs and regional Queensland, book with Laundry Lady – events, business, home laundry, renovations, baby shower gifts and more.

Parent-friendly HQ the way forward for Coast business

Award-winning mobile laundry business The Laundry Lady has relocated to new, larger premises in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast after six months of stellar growth.

Founded in 2012 by CEO Susan Toft, The Laundry Lady offers a convenient and affordable pickup and dropoff wash, dry, fold and iron service for homes and commercial customers.

With an existing team of contractors across Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Noosa, the Gold and Sunshine coasts, Ipswich and North Queensland, Laundry Lady recently expanded its footprint into Melbourne and Sydney.

As an essential service – helping busy households, cafes, hair salons, gyms, holiday rentals, and NDIS clients with their on-the-go laundry needs – Laundry Lady was able to keep its doors open throughout COVID lockdowns.

The relocation of Laundry Lady’s administrative headquarters will allow for even greater support of its customers, and team of contractors on the ground in Queensland, Victoria and NSW.

Australia-wide recruitment will be a key focus in the months ahead, creating home-based work opportunities for mums, dads, students and job seekers, and taking the stress out of the weekly laundry load!

Co-working arrangement an award-winning recipe

The Laundry Lady is not alone in its success.

It will share the commercial premises from this week with fellow Queensland business, The Milk Pantry, which has carved out a niche for itself in the Aussie market with its all-natural biscuits and brownies for breastfeeding mums.

Headed by Creator & Director Jessica Beveridge, The Milk Pantry has shone at local events like the Sunshine Coast Business Awards and been recognised for its efforts in sustainable operations.

Laundry Lady CEO Susan, who was previously named among Telstra’s 100 Faces of Small Business and a 2020 Ausmumpreneur Silver Award winner, says she is excited to be taking this next step with her business.

“Moving into the larger office space along with Jess and the wonderful team at The Milk Pantry is a major milestone for us,” she says.

“It allows the scope for further expansion in the coming 12 months and beyond, as Laundry Lady targets new markets and really ramps up recruitment nationwide.

“Being in the heart of the Sunshine Coast is yet another bonus, especially with all the promising new infrastructure, business investment, and population growth in the region.”

As Susan and Jess are busy mums themselves, it’s no surprise that the Maroochydore office lends itself to co-working and family life.

They are strong advocates for women in business, employing female trainees, students, and those who may be returning to the workforce after having children.

“We’ve come from a background where our working commitments are built around school drop-offs and sport,” explains Susan.

“This space will not only serve as our operational headquarters and a welcoming walk-in storefront for Milk Pantry, but facilitate flexible working conditions for all our employees.”

Celebrate someone special this Mother’s Day

To celebrate this landmark collaboration, The Laundry Lady and The Milk Pantry are inviting the community to get involved as part of an exciting Mother’s Day giveaway.

They have teamed with yet another female powerhouse, Rebecca Dredge of award-winning Kiddo Babysitting App, to offer an amazing combined prize pack – perfect for the special mum, caregiver, sister, or friend in your life.

Included in the Mother’s Day prize pack valued at over $400 is: a $200 Laundry Lady voucher (can be used across our wash, dry, fold and ironing services), $100 Kiddo Babysitting App voucher, and a $100 large gift box of lactation products from The Milk Pantry.

While some people in Sydney and Melbourne have packed up and headed north to Queensland – putting pressure on the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast markets in particular – it seems low interest rates and the popular Home Builder Grant are seeing many Sydney-siders turn to renovations or upgrades.

Small business ownership and you

Mobile Laundry Australia – Home Business Opportunity

Looking for mobile laundry home-based business opportunities & flexible part-time work Melbourne, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast & Australia-wide? Call Laundry Lady!

When embarking on a new business venture, you generally have to consider an initial financial outlay or loan, ongoing marketing costs, software, office space and more.

It quickly adds up or requires specialist business skills, and all too often those dreams of entrepreneurship and becoming your own boss get thrown into the ‘too hard basket’.

With Laundry Lady, there’s all the advantages of joining an established business with a proven marketing strategy, but you get to call the shots on when you work, as you work from home and you are your own boss.

Instead of the long-term commitment and hefty price tag of setting up your own start up business, or buying into an expensive franchise business, Laundry Lady adopts an independent contractor model for its mobile laundry service. This means from just a few hundred dollars for supplies, you can get started straight away. Laundry Lady finds the customers for you and provides training that is easy to follow!

Mobile Laundry Services – Home Business & Part Time Job

Our growing team of Laundry Ladies and Lads choose their own hours, work from their own homes, and have flexibility over how much they work.

Independence, with a support network

According to the Queensland Government Small Business website, there are many advantages to buying a franchise, which also apply to Laundry Lady.

  • Franchises offer the independence of small business ownership supported by the benefits of a big business network
  • You don’t necessarily need business experience to run a franchise. Franchisors usually provide the training you need to operate their business model
  • Franchises have a higher rate of success than start-up businesses
  • It may cost less to buy a franchise than start your own business of the same type
  • Franchises often have an established reputation and image, proven management and work practices, access to national advertising and ongoing support.

While the Laundry Lady is not a franchise system, we operate on an independent contractor model which gives you even more freedom to work within our proven model which attracts new customers through our innovative online booking system, a leading platform that sets us apart from our competitors.

The trusted name in mobile laundry services

Laundry Lady has been operating since 2012, and has since built a reputation as the trusted name in mobile laundry services.

We have a team of professionals who have undergone the relevant training to provide top-quality washing, drying, ironing and folding to homes and businesses.

With minimal setup costs and a starter pack provided, we offer a great business opportunity for homeschooling mums, stay at home dads, job seekers, or those individuals just looking for more flexibility in their lives.

We take care of the marketing and social media, and operate a user-friendly online booking system, while the contractors build networks within their own neighbourhood and community.

As Laundry Lady gears up for yet another bumper year in business, we are actively recruiting in Melbourne, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and now, Sydney! If you are outside of these regions, you can still apply and we will be in touch when we are ready for your area. We are expanding to new locations all the time.

Interview with Cairns’ Laundry Lady, Yvonne

Mobile Laundry Service Cairns

Meet Yvonne, your local Laundry Lady in Cairns. Budget friendly mobile laundry services: commercial and home laundromat, washing and ironing!

Came for the sunshine, stayed for the lifestyle

Originally hailing from the United Kingdom, Yvonne and her husband moved to Cairns 24 years’ ago with a tropical sea change firmly in their sights.

Yvonne says she was promised palm trees, sandy white beaches, and glorious sunshine by her husband.

“And he didn’t disappoint,” she says of the Far North’s lush rainforests, plentiful wildlife, and insta-worthy islands. “He just forgot to mention the heat, bugs and humidity!” she jokes.

Bugs aside, Yvonne, like many other overseas expats and holidaymakers, soon fell in love with her new Queensland home.

Flexibility and meeting new people

Yvonne joined the Laundry Lady team in November 2018, supplementing income from her own business.

But, as we know, life doesn’t always go to plan.

When Yvonne’s husband became ill, her original business fell by the wayside. Luckily, she was able to pick up additional work thanks to the flexibility of Laundry Lady.

“I think being part of the Laundry Lady team has huge benefits, including flexible hours, meeting new people, and being able to determine your working schedule,” she says.

“In my case, I could look after my husband, pop out to pick up the washing or ironing load, and then finish the work in the comfort of my home.”

Looking towards a brighter 2021

With Cairns and nearby holiday hub Port Douglas (known as Queensland’s capital of barefoot luxury) relying on tourism for much of its business and commuter market, Yvonne admits she wasn’t completely immune to the impacts of COVID-19.

“Due to COVID I lost my other business, so far from being an additional income, my aim is to build the [Laundry Lady] business to become my sole income.”

Aside from holidaymakers and fellow sunseekers, Yvonne’s varied customer base includes accountants, teachers, NDIS participants and more.

“I look forward to working with Susan and the rest of the Laundry Lady team, and I am excited to see what 2021 has in store.”

She remains optimistic about the New Year, especially with the predicted uptick in domestic tourism and interstate flights.

Port Douglas and Palm Cove are a bit empty at the moment, but the tourism market will kick off again from March and over the Easter break.”

If you’re planning a beach holiday in Cairns, Port Douglas or Palm Cove in the New Year, let us take a load off your mind by taking care of the clothes, towels, linen, and even guest changeover services at your Airbnb or vacation rental!

Team culture and ‘giving it a go’

Laundry Lady employs contractors right across Queensland, Victoria and soon, New South Wales.

Despite the geographical distance, Yvonne says there is a great team culture working with Laundry Lady.

“I really like the new, branded shirts, and even display the magnets on my car,” she says.

“Social media makes it easy to connect with other Laundry Ladies (and Lads). It makes you feel part of a team.”

Her advice for those who may be thinking of coming on board?

“Get out there and give it a go!” she says. “It’s a great opportunity to be your own boss and choose your own hours.”

Join the team – apply now!

You too could be enjoying flexible hours and a home-based opportunity that fits your lifestyle – just like our Cairns’ superstar, Yvonne.

Working from home & the new ‘normal’

Work from Home Melbourne & Australia-wide

Looking for a stay-at-home-job in Melbourne or Australia-wide? We give you the opportunity to work from home, offering mobile laundry services! Join us!

The national unemployment rate has increased to 7 percent, while the working from home trend continues to track upwards, according to new figures.

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data released this month shows more people joined the unemployed queue in October, with casuals hit hardest by jobs losses.

Head of Labour Statistics at the ABS, Bjorn Jarvis, said “Total employment fell from around 13 million to 12.2 million between February and May 2020, with two thirds of the fall occurring in casual employment.”

Employment in casual jobs fell from 2.6 million to 2.1 million between February and May 2020.

“Prior to the COVID period, casuals accounted for around 25 percent of all employees. This fell to around 20 percent in May,” Mr Jarvis said in a statement.

Meanwhile, insights from job platform Seek show more than 30 percent of people were working from home in mid-2020.

This comes on the back of lockdowns and increased social distancing measures in the workplace.

What does this mean for the workforce?

The ‘home office’ and home business ideas is a trend that’s gaining in popularity, with notable benefits for both employers and employees.

It seems we quite like working in our pajamas, drinking our morning coffee at home, and saying goodbye to the long commute.

Experts agree that the ever-resilient Aussies have now proven we can effectively work from home

As a result, they’re expecting more people to leave major cities and CBD areas, opting for the fresh air and flexibility of regional life.

Earlier this year, Seek surveyed the habits of Australian job seekers and those employed. Key results showed that:

  • 41 percent are now re-thinking their careers
  • 1 in 4 intend to apply for a job in a new industry.
  • 2 in 3 would choose job security over a higher salary.
  • And 32 percent now work from home.

Finding your ‘tree change’ with a stay at home job in Melbourne & Australia-wide

In a year of uncertainty, one thing is for sure: Coronavirus has changed the way we think about work.

Benefits include:

  • Flexible to suit your life and needs
  • Be your own boss
  • Home-based business
  • Work your own hours

HomeFront teams with Laundry Lady for defence community

Customer satisfaction is our top concern, and any business that we work with must share that view.”

We chat with Gordon Henderson, Operations Manager at residential services management business HomeFront about how Laundry Lady helps their valued customers.

What is HomeFront?

HomeFront is a veteran owned and operated home services business that provides end-to-end service management and caters primarily to the Australian defence community.

Tell us about your clients

While we do cater primarily to the defence community, we also have a large number of civilian residential and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) customers.

Why do your clients need your services?

We not only provide end-to-end management of all of our services, but we’re also a one-stop-shop for most household services. You don’t need to speak to a dozen different people to get work done around the home, just talk to HomeFront and hear the same voice or read the same name each time.

What is important when dealing with clients with disability or high needs?

In my experience, it’s routine and consistency. These clients are often dealing with multiple health issues that make anything in their lives more difficult. Providing them with routine via a set schedule, and consistency delivering a quality service each time means it’s one less thing for them to worry about.

What do you look for when choosing service providers (aka the Laundry Lady)?

Primarily, I look for providers that share our customer focus. Customer satisfaction is our top concern, and any business that we work with must share that view.

Why do you love The Laundry Lady?

Their staff understands good customer service. From Susan at head office to Donna on the ground, picking up the bags.

Day one and our customer had forgotten to leave her bag out. I got in touch with Donna letting her know about the delay. She kindly altered her schedule to give our customer enough time to get home and organise the bag. Nothing was too much trouble for Donna and several months down the track we still have a very happy customer (me included).

To find out more about HomeFront and the important work they do in the community, head to their website.

Laundry Lady and you: information for our NDIS customers

Laundry Lady provides consistent, safe and quality laundry services to our NDIS customers. We are experienced in supporting our NDIS customer’s laundry needs, and all of our Laundry contractors are trained in the NDIS code of conduct.

If you are eligible to access unregistered NDIS providers, you can use our services through your self-managed, plan nominee or registered plan manager.
