Lourdes, for example, is a busy Laundry Lady and mum from Melbourne who’s been seeking some work-life balance and WFH opportunities to increase her family’s income. She found out about us on social media and decided to give the laundry business a try.
Since that day, she’s been working with her local community, assisting it with excellence in her laundry and ironing services. At the same time, she’s able to spend time with their children, watching them grow closely and being part of the process.

Laundry Lady: What attracted you to the Laundry Lady?
Lourdes: To be honest, it found me on Facebook. I had been trying to re-enter the workforce for a while after being a stay-at-home mum with my youngest son and found my age to be a barrier. Out of nowhere, an ad popped up for Laundry Lady and when I read I could work from home and be my own boss, I figured “why not give it a try”? At this point, I had nothing to lose.
Laundry Lady: Tell us a little bit more about your family life and background.
Lourdes: I’m a married mum of seven kids and three stepkids ranging in ages from 33 to almost 11. Until recently, I was also a foster mum to two boys aged five and three.
Trying to juggle everything has its own challenges at times but, to be honest, I wouldn’t change it one bit. It’s during those times that I find pushes me to be a better version of myself.
Laundry Lady: How does the role fit around your lifestyle?
Lourdes: I love how Laundry Lady allows me to set my own schedule. Flexibility is where it’s at. I have been able to attend my son’s school events, concerts and family dinners without affecting my work. I even manage to turn lunchtimes into lunch dates with hubby as I wait for the first loads to wash and dry…
Where else would you find a work-life balance like this? Also, I love where I live: centrally located to the shopping centre and cinemas, a park across the road, lovely neighbours and no more than half an hour from my customers in any direction.
Laundry Lady: Could you share with us any advice for the contractors that are starting with Laundry Lady now?
Lourdes: Don’t be afraid to take the first step. You can work your own hours from home and still be there for your loved ones. You get all the support from the team along the way.
You get to meet lovely people from all walks of life and can even end up making lifelong friends.
